Sound Therapy, Therapeutic Voice and Body Expression
Music, voice, sound and movement at the service of healing.
As a licensed therapist with a Master’s in Music Therapy from the University of Barcelona, I offer sessions that integrate therapeutic techniques using music, voice, sound and movement for healing and wellbeing.
A sound therapy and therapeutic voice session is a practice that combines the use of sounds with vocal and body expression to promote emotional, mental and physical wellbeing. Below I explain more about each component and what the session involves.
Sound therapy uses sounds, vibrations and music to facilitate healing and emotional balance.
It is based on the idea that sounds can influence our mental and physical state.
Elements:
Instruments: Includes crystal singing bowls, healing melodies played live on the piano, tuning forks and other instruments that produce vibrations and healing frequencies.
Natural Sounds: Sounds from nature can also be incorporated, such as water, wind or birdsong.
Benefits:
Relaxation: Sounds help induce a state of calm, reducing stress and anxiety.
Emotional Release: Facilitates the expression of repressed emotions, helping to process grief or stress.
Inner Connection: Fosters a deeper connection with oneself and with one’s surroundings.
Definition: Therapeutic voice focuses on using the voice as a healing tool. This can include singing techniques, vocal improvisation and breathing exercises.
Elements:
Vocalisation: Participants can practise specific chants or sounds to release emotions.
Breathing Exercises: Techniques that help relax the body and improve the connection with the voice.
Benefits:
Emotional Expression: Allows people to express feelings that are difficult to verbalise, facilitating internal communication.
Empowerment: Encourages self-expression and self-awareness.
Anxiety Reduction: Voice practice can help calm the mind and ease tension.
Conscious movement to reconnect body and emotions.
Conscious Movement: Involves performing movements intentionally and consciously, paying attention to how the body feels in each action.
Varied Techniques: sessions include yoga and improvisation, adapting to the needs and preferences of participants.
Connection with Emotions: Body expression allows people to connect with their emotions through movement, facilitating the release of repressed feelings.
Breath: Attention is paid to the breath, which is fundamental for relaxing the body and deepening the connection between mind and body.
